Joanna Gallop

Principal Dentist & Practice Owner

BDS (Lond), LDSRCS (Eng), MSc (Lond)

GDC: 59746

Meet Jo, a seasoned and GDC-registered dentist with over 40 years of experience. Her journey into dentistry was fuelled by a childhood encounter with an old fashioned family dentist, who left her with painful memories and no communication. It all changed at the age of 12, when she experienced her first pain-free filling, administered by a young and compassionate dentist who used local anaesthesia. This transformative moment ignited Jo’s mission to make dentistry a painless experience for others and sparked her determination to communicate effectively with patients, alleviating their fears.

Having graduated with honours from the London Hospital in Whitechapel in 1984, where she was awarded the prize for Best Student in her year, Jo began her professional journey as a Houseman at the London Hospital. Later, she pursued a Master’s in Gerodontology (dentistry for older adults), achieving a first-class degree through two years of part-time study.

Embracing a holistic approach to dentistry, Jo consistently expands her expertise through diverse studies. In 2001, she undertook a one-year implant course, relearning human anatomy and mastering the placement of dental implants. Today, she collaborates within a multidisciplinary team of local specialists, planning and restoring implants for her patients.

Jo’s commitment to her profession extends well beyond clinical practice. In 2010-2011, she was elected President of the British Dental Association (London branch), a testament to her standing among peers. During her tenure, she organised a series of impactful lectures for BDA members, showcasing her leadership and advocacy for continuous learning in the dental community.

Jo’s pursuit of excellence has led her to become a Gold Member of the British Bleaching Society led by Dr Linda Greenwall, an eminent tooth whitening expert. Keen to fine-tune her skills wherever possible, Jo regularly attends lectures and practical courses in veneers, clear aligners, cosmetic white fillings and implants, hosted by esteemed dental specialists from all over the world. As an active member of the British Dental Association, Jo remains dedicated to staying at the forefront of dental innovation and ensuring her patients receive the best care possible.
