Why didn’t I just do it sooner…!
It’s one of those things that we just put off, and then wish we’d done it years ago. I kept thinking I’ll do it at some point, partly due to finances, and partly due to being unsure if I had the dedication for 6 months of treatment.
But Reveal Aligners made it so easy! Changing the aligners every 10 to 14 days meant that I could really feel and see the progress with my smile, so the months whizzed by.
For me, having a goal helped – I started Reveal Aligners 9 months before my wedding, which allowed ample time for any changes.
The most amazing part of the whole process for me was the second consultation, where I watched a video of my smile changing over time and saw what my final result would look like. Watching this video helped bring it all to life, and I couldn’t wait to get started!
There are also rumours of clear aligners being painful. Don’t get me wrong, changing over to the next aligner can cause the teeth to ache slightly. But I felt it quite satisfying, knowing that pain was moving my teeth!
Plus, it’s only an initial ache, lasting a matter of a few hours. Nothing more than a paracetamol was needed, and sometimes not even that.
I often changed my aligners over in the evening, making those first initial aches easier while I slept.
Of course, Reveal Aligners are all about patient compliance, with minimal time out of your diary for dental appointments. The rest depends on you. You must wear your aligners at least 22 hours a day, only removing them to eat and clean your teeth.
Forgetting to wear them, or not wearing them for greater lengths of time, will only prolong the treatment.
Occasionally, you may need to have some IPR (interproximal reduction) where the dentist has to file a very small amount of tooth away to create some space, to allow the teeth to move. IPR is done at the practice and no anaesthetic is needed.
Again, IPR is not a painful treatment nor is it damaging to the teeth. It’s only fractions of a millimetre.
Before you know it, your final appointment has come with Jo to assess the end result, and if you’re happy, you’ll go away with your removable retainers, which you wear every night to keep the teeth in place.
If you still require further treatment, we’ll re-take the impressions and make refiners. These will complete and finalise your result.
Reveal Aligners currently cost between £3500-5000 for both arches, and the exact quote for your package will be provided at your second consultation. You can even add home whitening treatment to your personal aligners package so your new smile will have an extra sparkle!
If you’d like to spread out the cost a little, we’re happy to provide finance options tailored to suit your circumstances. Feel free to ask us about your options at your first aligners consultation.
Your first consultation will include impressions of your upper and lower jaws, photographs of your teeth and any required x-rays. All this information will be sent off to the fabulous team at Reveal Aligners, and they’ll get to work on designing your personalised aligners package.
You’ll then come back after a couple of weeks for your second consultation, which will include your Reveal treatment video to see what’s possible for your smile. There will be plenty of time to ask our lovely dentist Jo any questions about the process.
